Instinct to Discipline

BOYS TOO MEN

"Boys Too Men" mentorship and life-skills program designed for adolescent boys to young men (ages 7-25). It focuses on equipping young men with practical skills, emotional intelligence, and a positive understanding of manhood in modern society.

Theme: Building Character, Competence, Confidence and Integrity

1. Mission and Purpose

The Boys Too Men program provides a community of positive male role models who help teenagers transition into manhood. The program focuses on self-accountability, emotional regulation, and practical skills that build confidence, independence, and a sense of responsibility toward their homes, families, and communities.

2. Core Pillars of the Curriculum

The program is structured around four main pillars, delivered through weekly meetings (check-ins), workshops, and hands-on demonstrations.

A. Household Handyman & Life Skills

  • Goal: Foster independence and pride in surroundings.

  • Topics: Basic plumbing (unclogging toilets, fixing leaks), electrical basics (changing bulbs, resetting breakers), wall repair (patching drywall, painting), and safety (checking smoke detectors).

  • Activities: "Fix-it" workshops where participants learn to use tool kits, change air filters, or assemble furniture.

B. Automotive Maintenance & Responsibility

  • Goal: Teach reliability and financial stewardship regarding transportation.

  • Topics: Changing a tire, checking oil and fluid levels, jump-starting a car, and understanding routine maintenance schedules.

  • Activities: A "Car Care Day" where a mechanic mentors the boys on basic car checks.

C. Personal Appearance & Attire Code

  • Goal: Instill self-respect and professional etiquette.

  • Topics: Dressing for success (interviews, formal events), basic grooming and hygiene, ironing clothes, and understanding appropriate attire for different occasions.

  • Activities: "Suit Up" workshop, including tie-tying demonstrations and a clothes drive to provide business casual attire for participants.

D. Physical & Mental Health (The Whole Man)

  • Goal: Promote emotional intelligence, resilience, and physical well-being.

  • Topics:

    • Mental: Managing emotions, recognizing signs of depression, coping with stress, social media awareness, and breaking the "man up" stigma.

    • Physical: Nutrition, exercise, hygiene, and the importance of sleep.

  • Activities: Weekly check-in rounds to discuss struggles, group sports (dodgeball, basketball) to encourage healthy physical activity.
